What is Coffee?

Coffee is a warm, dark drink that many people enjoy every day. It is made from tiny seeds called beans that grow on special plants. These beans are roasted, ground up, and then mixed with hot water to make coffee. People like coffee because it helps them feel more awake and alert.

Where Does Coffee Come From?

Coffee plants grow in warm places near the equator. Countries like Brazil, Vietnam, and Colombia grow lots of coffee beans. The beans start as little seeds inside red cherries on the coffee plant. After the cherries are picked, the seeds are cleaned, roasted, and ready to become coffee.
