What Was Laramidia?

Laramidia was an island that existed a very long time ago, during the Late Cretaceous period. Back then, a big body of water called the Western Interior Seaway split North America into two parts. Laramidia was one of those parts, separated from another land called Appalachia.

Home to Many Dinosaurs

Many amazing dinosaurs lived on Laramidia. Some of these were hadrosaurs, also known as duck-billed dinosaurs, and ceratopsians like Kosmoceratops and Utahceratops. The island was a special place where dinosaurs could grow and change in their own unique ways.

From Island to Continent

Over millions of years, the Western Interior Seaway became smaller and moved away. Finally, Laramidia joined with other lands to become the North America we know today. Scientists found many dinosaur fossils there, helping us learn about life from long ago.
