Meet the Mink
Mink are small, furry animals that love to be near water. They are part of a big family that includes weasels, otters, and badgers. There are two main kinds of mink: the American mink and the European mink. Both look similar, with soft, dark brown fur that shines in the sunlight.
Mink are very good swimmers and often live close to rivers, lakes, and marshes. They are clever hunters and enjoy eating fish, small animals, birds, and even eggs. In some places, people have kept mink on farms because their fur is very beautiful and is used to make special clothing.
Because of fur farming, some mink have traveled to new places far from their homes. This has made people think carefully about how to treat these animals. Some countries have made rules to protect both mink and humans, especially when animals might carry sickness.
Mink are quiet, busy creatures that explore their areas near water. They mark their spaces with scent and usually stay close to their favorite spots for food. Even though they are small, mink are strong and full of surprises!
