Dynamicism

Adapted from Wikipedia ยท Discoverer experience

Dynamicism, also called dynamic cognition, is an idea in cognitive science that suggests a new way to understand how our minds work. It was made popular by philosopher Tim van Gelder. This approach believes that using math ideas like differential equations and dynamical systems can better explain cognition, or how we think and learn, than older models such as symbolicism, connectionism, or traditional computer models.

Dynamicism is closely linked to dynamical neuroscience, which studies how the brain works using similar mathematical tools. This way of thinking helps scientists see the mind and brain as constantly changing and interacting systems, rather than just following set rules or steps. It offers a fresh view on many questions about how we understand the world and make decisions.
