The Austrian men's national hockey team represents Austria in ice hockey competitions around the world. It is managed by the Österreichischer Eishockeyverband, the country's ice hockey governing body. As of 2022, the team was ranked 18th in the IIHF World Rankings, showing its strong presence in international hockey.

Although Austria has not won a medal in a major tournament since 1947, the team continues to compete with enthusiasm. The country has many players involved in the sport, with about 8,799 registered ice hockey players, which is a small but dedicated group compared to the total population. Ice hockey in Austria is an exciting part of the sports culture, bringing fans together to cheer for their national team in each game.

World Championship

The Austrian team has played in many World Championship games. In 1931 and 1947, they won bronze medals. Over the years, they have finished in many different places, sometimes as high as fourth and sometimes lower, like 17th or even 18th.

In 1912, Austria wanted to compete in the European Championship, but it was later canceled because Austria was not a member of the IIHF at that time.
