Bangladesh at the Olympics

Adapted from Wikipedia · Adventurer experience

Bangladesh has joined every Summer Olympic Games since 1984, but has never been in the Winter Olympic Games. Before 1947, athletes from Bangladesh were part of British India, and later Pakistan until 1971. As of 2024, no athlete from Bangladesh has won an Olympic medal.

In 2016, Siddikur Rahman became the first person from Bangladesh to qualify for the Olympics in golf. That year, Bangladesh sent seven athletes, the most they have ever sent. Some athletes have also joined the Games through a special wildcard process. Even though Bangladesh has many people, it is the largest country in the world without an Olympic medal.

In 2008, a leader of the Bangladesh Olympic Association said that challenges, like money problems and fairness issues, have made it hard for Bangladesh to do well in sports.
