Boxing at the 2000 Summer Olympics

The boxing competition at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia took place at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre in Darling Harbour. Only men could compete. Each fight had four rounds, and each round lasted two minutes. Five judges scored the fights, and the boxer with the most points won.
In Olympic boxing, two bronze medals are given out. This means both fighters who lose in the semi-finals get a bronze medal. There is no extra fight to decide who gets bronze. Winning a quarter-final fight means you are sure to get at least a bronze medal. A semi-final win means you could win silver, and the final decides the gold medal winner. This way, 48 medals were given out, with half of them being bronze medals.

Men competed in twelve boxing events at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia. Each event had a different weight class. Fighters were grouped by how much they weighed.
