East Central Indiana
Adapted from Wikipedia · Adventurer experience
East Central Indiana is a region in the state of Indiana, located east of the city of Indianapolis, Indiana and close to the border with Ohio.
During the 1890s, a big change happened because of something called the Indiana Gas Boom. This discovery of natural gas helped small farming towns grow into larger cities. New factories and businesses started, and companies like Ball Corporation and Overhead Door had their main offices here.
At first, making glass was a big industry because the natural gas made it easier to produce. But as the glass industry slowed down, many workers found jobs making car parts in places like Muncie and Anderson. When the American automobile industry began to struggle, East Central Indiana became part of what people call the Rust Belt. Today, many towns in the area are working hard to find new ways to grow.
