Ecuador at the Olympics

Ecuador has joined the Summer Olympic Games 16 times since 1924. The country’s first big win was when Jefferson Pérez got the gold medal in the men’s 20 km walk in 1996. The Ecuadorian National Olympic Committee started in 1948 and was recognized by the IOC in 1959.
Ecuador also started joining the Winter Olympic Games in 2018, which was an exciting new start for its athletes.
