History
IK Oskarshamn, often called IKO, started on May 27, 1970, when two local teams, Oskarshamns AIK and IFK Oskarshamn, joined together. At first, the team was named AIK–IFK Oskarshamn. It later changed to IK70 in 1972–73, and finally became IK Oskarshamn in 1986–87.
The team tried to move up to Sweden’s top league three times—in 2000–01, 2004–05, and 2018–19. In 2018–19, they succeeded and played in the top league for the first time. They play their home games at the Be-Ge Hockey Center, which can hold 3,275 fans. The arena was built in 1974 and was updated and made bigger during the 2004–05 season.
