Jordan competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 5 to 21 August 2016. This was Jordan's tenth time in a row at the Summer Olympics.

The Jordan Olympic Committee chose a team of eight athletes, seven men and one woman, to compete in six sports. This team was similar to the ones from Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004, but it had more men than any Jordanian team for a long time. For the first time, Jordan had a competitor in triathlon.

Ahmad Abu-Ghaush won Jordan's first ever Olympic medal, winning gold in the men's 68 kg competition.

Two athletes from Jordan had also been in the London 2012 Olympics: Methkal Abu Drais in men's marathon, and swimmer Talita Baqlah, who was the first swimmer from Jordan to go to two Olympic Games. She was there with her younger brother Khader. The super heavyweight boxer Hussein Ishaish carried the Jordanian flag during the opening ceremony.

Jordan left Rio de Janeiro with its very first Olympic gold medal, which was also its first medal of any kind. The gold medal was won by taekwondo fighter Ahmad Abu-Ghaush in the men's featherweight category.
