List of Michelin-starred restaurants in Thailand
Adapted from Wikipedia Β· Adventurer experience
In the 2026 Michelin Guide, 43 restaurants in Thailand have earned a special rating called a Michelin star. These stars show that the food at these restaurants is very good. They help people know where to visit when they want to eat something special.
The Michelin Guides started in 1900 by a French company that makes car tires. At first, they helped drivers find good places to eat. Over time, getting a Michelin star became a big honor for restaurants.
Before a restaurant gets a star, special inspectors visit it many times. They check the quality of the ingredients, how well the food is cooked, the chefβs style, and how the flavors taste together. If the inspectors agree the food is great, the restaurant can get one, two, or three stars. One star means the food is very good, two stars mean it is excellent, and three stars mean it is amazing.
The first Michelin Guide for Thailand came out in 2018, and it only talked about restaurants in Bangkok. Since then, the guide has grown to include more places like Phuket, Phang-Nga, Chiang Mai, Ayutthaya, Nakhon Ratchasima, Ubon Ratchathani, Udon Thani, Khon Kaen, and Chonburi. This growth shows how many wonderful places there are to eat in Thailand.

Criticism
When the Michelin Guide came to Thailand, some people worried about how it might change Thai cooking. Jarrett Wrisley, who owns restaurants in Bangkok, said the guide might change Thai food in ways that make menus less interesting and that it might be influenced by sponsors. But other chefs who have won Michelin stars say Thai food is still strong, and new ways of cooking can keep the old traditions alive. Jay Fai, who owns her own restaurant, shared that she wishes some visitors would focus more on enjoying the meals rather than just taking pictures.
