Marriott Hotels & Resorts
Marriott Hotels & Resorts is a brand owned by Marriott International. It offers full-service hotels and resorts all around the world. The main office is located in Bethesda, Maryland.
As of June 30, 2020, the brand had many hotels and resorts with thousands of rooms. There were also plans to build more hotels in the future. These places give travelers comfortable places to stay in many different countries.
History
Foundation and early years
Marriott Hotels started when a restaurant company decided to open hotels. The first one opened in 1957 in Virginia, near The Pentagon and Washington National Airport. Soon after, more hotels opened in places like Dallas, Philadelphia, and Atlanta. By 1967, the company had changed its name to Marriott Corporation and had eight hotels.
Marriott also opened resorts and hotels outside the United States. In 1967, it bought a famous hotel in Arizona, and in 1969, it opened its first hotel outside the U.S. in Mexico. More hotels followed in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
Development since 2000
By 1999, Marriott had over 360 hotels in many countries. In 2010, they opened their 500th hotel in India. In 2013, Marriott promised to use only cage-free eggs in its hotels by 2025.
In 2020, Marriott had a problem in the UK that let hackers take customer information. Later in 2022, another problem happened, and hackers got more information from Marriott hotels. In 2023, there were also some problems in Poland with one of Marriott's hotels.

- Arlington, Virginia, United States: The Marriott Motor Hotel Twin Bridges was the first place to stay opened by J. Willard Marriott, in 1957. It closed in 1988 and was torn down.
- Atlanta, Georgia, United States: The Atlanta Marriott Marquis had the largest hotel space inside when it opened in 1985. It was designed by architect John C. Portman Jr..
- Baltimore, Maryland, United States: The Baltimore Marriott Waterfront Hotel is the tallest hotel in Baltimore.
- Bangkok, Thailand: The Bangkok Marriott Hotel The Surawongse opened in 2018.
- Buffalo, New York, United States: The LECOM Harborcenter is a building with many uses that includes the Buffalo Marriott at LECOM Harborcenter.
- Cairo, Egypt: The Marriott Mena House Hotel is part of an old place to stay north of the Giza pyramid complex. It was built in 1869 and became a hotel in 1886. In 1977, leaders from Egypt and Israel met there to talk about peace. In 2018, part of the hotel became a Marriott.
- Cardiff, United Kingdom: The Cardiff Marriott Hotel is near the Cardiff Central Library. Marriott began managing the hotel in 1992.
- Casablanca, Morocco: The former Sheraton Casablanca Hotel & Towers became the Casablanca Marriott Hotel after a change in 2022.
- Chicago, Illinois, United States: The Marriott Marquis Chicago is connected to the McCormick Place, a big place for meetings, by a walk over the street.
- Constantine, Algeria: The Constantine Marriott Hotel is built in the style of old Moorish design.
- Des Moines, Iowa, United States: The Des Moines Marriott Hotel is the tallest hotel in Iowa.
- Detroit, Michigan, United States: The Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center is in the tallest building of the Renaissance Center, by the Detroit International Riverfront and owned by General Motors.
- Dubai, United Arab Emirates: The Dubai Marriott Harbour Hotel & Suites, opened in 2007, became a Marriott in 2009. It is in the Dubai Marina.

- Nagoya, Japan: The Nagoya Marriott Associa hotel is a 52-story hotel above Nagoya station, connected to the station by a walkway.
