Meghan Christina Agosta, born on February 12, 1987, is a Canadian women's ice hockey forward. She played for the Montreal Stars in the Canadian Women's Hockey League and was a key member of the Canada women's national ice hockey team. Agosta won three gold medals at the Winter Olympics in 2006, 2010, and 2014. In 2010, she was named the Most Valuable Player of the Womenβs Hockey Tournament.
During her time at Mercyhurst College, Agosta made history as the first freshman to be a finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Award. She was also named a First Team All-American and won many awards, including CHA Player of the Year. In the 2008β09 season, she led her team to the NCAA womenβs hockey championship finals.
Hockey career
Meghan Agosta started playing hockey when she was 6 years old, after trying figure skating. As a teen, she played with the Chatham-Kent Cyclones boys' team and later with the Windsor Wildcats. She won gold for Team Ontario at the 2003 Canada Winter Games and again in 2005 at the National Under 18 championships. She also won gold for Canada at the 2004 World Inline Hockey Championship.
Agosta played for Mercyhurst College and became a top player. She helped the team reach the NCAA quarterfinals and their first No. 1 national ranking. She broke many records, including becoming the all-time leading scorer in NCAA women's hockey history. In the Canadian Women's Hockey League, she won the Angela James Bowl and helped her team win the Clarkson Cup. She is one of only a few women to win a Clarkson Cup, an Olympic gold medal, and a gold medal at the IIHF World Women's Championships.
International play
Meghan Agosta played for the Canada women's national ice hockey team and won many medals in big tournaments. She was part of the team that won gold medals at the 2006 Winter Olympic Games, 2010 Winter Olympic Games, and 2014 Winter Olympic Games. At the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, she was chosen as the most valuable player of the tournament.
She also helped Canada win at other events like the 2012 IIHF Women's World Championship and the 2011 IIHF Eight Nations Tournament. In 2024, she stopped playing for Canada's national team.
Personal life
Meghan Agosta grew up in an Italian household in Ruthven, Ontario, a community near the town of Kingsville. She played for Canada's team at the 2006 World Inline Hockey Championship in Taylor, Michigan. Her parents are named Nino and Char, and she has three siblings named Kara, Jeric, and Jade. Her brother Jeric got a full scholarship to play hockey at the University of Nebraska Omaha. Meghan studied criminal justice at Mercyhurst College.
In 2012, she married Marco Marciano, who was a coach for the Canadian womenβs national team. They separated in 2014, and she changed her name back to Agosta. Later that year, she joined the Vancouver Police Department as a trainee officer and graduated from their academy in 2015. She took a break from the police to train for the 2018 Olympics. In 2020, she appeared on the TV show "Battle of Blades" with figure skater Andrew Poje. Meghan has two children, Chance and Rylan, with Vancouver police officer Jason Robillard.

Awards and honours
Meghan Agosta got many awards for her great ice hockey skills. At the Vancouver 2010 Olympics, she was named the Most Valuable Player of the Womenβs Hockey Tournament. She was also chosen as the Best Forward and a Media All-Star.
She earned many honours in the CWHL, including being named the Most Valuable Player in the 2011β12 season and winning the Angela James Bowl in both 2011β12 and 2012β13. In college hockey, she was named CHA Player of the Year many times and was a finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award several years in a row.
