Netherlands at the 2026 Winter Olympics

The Netherlands will take part in the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy, from 6 to 22 February 2026. This will be a fun event for the country as they try to do well in many winter sports.

Jorrit Bergsma won a gold medal near the end of the games, making these the best Winter Olympics ever for the Netherlands. They have won ten gold medals, which is more than ever before. Their best before was eight gold medals.

Jorrit Bergsma and Xandra Velzeboer will carry the flag for the Netherlands during the closing ceremony, celebrating their great achievements.

*Suzanne Schulting will compete in both speed skating and short-track speed skating, which is why the total number of athletes is one less than the sum of all the individual sports.

Short-track speed skating

The Netherlands had a team of ten short-track speed skaters for the 2026 Winter Olympics. There were five men and five women. Nine skaters were chosen after national championships. The last spot went to Itzhak de Laat because another skater couldn't recover from an injury. The team was coached by Niels Kerstholt.

The Netherlands had eighteen speed skaters, nine men and nine women, who qualified for the 2026 Winter Olympics. They earned their spots by doing well in the 2025-26 ISU Speed Skating World Cup and an Olympic qualification tournament in December 2025.
