Polymorphic Programming Language
The Polymorphic Programming Language (PPL) was created in 1969 at Harvard University by Thomas A. Standish. It was an interactive and extensible kind of language. The basic parts of PPL were similar to another language called APL.
One special feature of PPL was its use of the <- (or โ) symbol for assigning values. This later influenced the design of the language S. This shows how ideas from older programming languages can shape newer ones.
