Many people enjoy bodyboarding and surfing at Shark Island. The waves can grow very big and strong fast, making it a tricky place. Bodyboarders say it has one of the most powerful waves in the world.
Every year, there is a big bodyboarding contest called the Shark Island Challenge. There is also a swimming event named the Shark Island Swim Challenge held at Cronulla Beach.
