Teknaf

Teknaf (Bengali: টেকনাফ) is a town in Teknaf Upazila of Cox's Bazar District in south-eastern Bangladesh. It is the southernmost point in mainland Bangladesh, with St. Martin's Island being the very southernmost point.
The name Teknaf comes from the Naf River, which forms the eastern boundary of the upazila. This river also serves as the boundary between Bangladesh and Myanmar. Teknaf port is an important place for trading with Myanmar.
History
Teknaf was first home to the Rakhine people, who named it Kawau Sang.
In May 2018, a councillor of Teknaf Municipality was sadly killed. Later, in 2021, the United States took action against some officers for their role in this event.
Administration and demographics
Teknaf municipality has nine parts called wards and 16 smaller areas named Mahallas.
About 25,056 people live there, and roughly 40.9% of them know how to read and write.
