Tempo Networks is a television channel that shares Caribbean music and culture with the world. It shows many kinds of music videos, including Reggae, Soca, Dancehall, Ska, Calypso, Chutney, Chutney Soca, Reggaeton, and Punta rock. You can also watch news, dramas, and documentaries about life in the Caribbean. Most of the shows are in English.
The channel started on November 30, 2005, and was first owned by MTV Networks. Since 2007, it has been run by its founder, Frederick Morton, Jr., and is located in Newark, New Jersey.
Tempo Networks is available on Cablevision in the New York area on Channel 1105, and it reaches many viewers across the Caribbean. You can also watch it live on the internet any time of day.
History
Tempo Networks started in 2005 by MTV Networks. To celebrate the launch, they held a concert series called "CaribbeanRising." This event showed many kinds of music from the Caribbean.
Programs
Tempo Networks shows fun shows about the Caribbean. Some shows are Badness Outta Style, Choices, and Cook-Up. There are also special shows like Cross Caribbean Countdown and Downtown Island.
The network makes its own movies too, such as HUSH, HUSH 2, and Hooked. Other films include The Black Moses Pindling and Chrissy.
Events
Tempo Networks hosts big events called "Tempo Turns". These are concerts in the Caribbean islands and the United States. Many people from around the world come to these events. One event, "TEMPO Turns 6", took place at Six Flags / Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey.
Pro-social initiatives
TEMPO has created several projects to support positive change. These include school tours called Badness Outta Style, a campaign called One Love/Haiti, and a project named TEMPO Water. These projects aim to raise awareness and support for important causes.
Other
Tempo Networks has other projects too. One is called TEMPO Bookings. It helps artists from the Caribbean find events to perform at. There is also a TEMPO Web Store. The network works with tourist boards in places like Antigua, Trinidad & Tobago, Grenada, USVI, Barbados, and Turks & Caicos.

Tempo Networks works with many companies to share its shows with viewers. Some of its partners are American Airlines, Bahamas Telecommunications Company, Cable & Wireless, Carib, Digicel, Heineken, Liat, Lime, RIM/Blackberry, Sony/Ericsson, and VP Records. These partners help people in the Caribbean enjoy the music and cultural programs from Tempo Networks.
