Tennis came back to the Summer Olympic Games as a demonstration sport for the second time in 60 years during the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, California, United States. It became an official Olympic sport four years later at the 1988 Summer Olympics.
At these Games, there were two events: men’s singles and women’s singles. Both events happened at the Los Angeles Tennis Center on the campus of the University of California, Los Angeles, also known as UCLA. Each event had 32 players, and only players who were under 21 years old could join the tournament.
