Uyvar Eyalet
Adapted from Wikipedia · Adventurer experience
Uyvar Eyalet was a region controlled by the Ottoman Empire. It was set up when Mehmed IV was the ruler.
In 1663, Ottoman forces led by Köprülü Fazıl Ahmed defeated soldiers of the Habsburg Monarchy in the city of Uyvar. Today, this city is called Nové Zámky in Slovakia.
Later, in 1664, the Ottomans lost some northern areas including the strongholds of Hlohovec, Nitra, and Levice. The Peace of Vasvár confirmed Ottoman control over the rest of the region. In 1699, the area was given back to Austria after the Treaty of Karlowitz.
People living in Uyvar paid special taxes called Jizya. These taxes were lower than usual. The region sent money each year to the Ottoman treasury from its non-Muslim residents.
Administrative divisions
The Uyvar Eyalet was a part of the Ottoman Empire. In the 17th century, it had several smaller areas called sanjaks.
These included the sanjaks of Litova, Novigrad, Hulichk, Boyak, and Shaswar.
