The 2009 AIBA World Boxing Championships were held in Milan, Italy, from September 1 to September 12, 2009, at the Mediolanum Forum. This event was the biggest World Championships in AIBA history. The competition was organized by the AIBA, the world's governing body for amateur boxing.

Originally, Cameroon, Trinidad and Tobago, and Uzbekistan showed interest in hosting the championships. However, they did not submit their final applications and were not chosen. This left Italy and South Korea as the final two countries competing to host the event. In the end, Milan, Italy, was selected as the host city for the 2009 championships.
