The Alps Hockey League (AlpsHL) is a professional ice hockey league based in Central Europe. Teams in the league come from four countries: Austria, Croatia, Italy, and Slovenia. The league began in 2016 when two other hockey leagues, the Serie A and the Inter-National League, joined together to form a new group. This league gives players a chance to compete against strong teams from different nations, making it an exciting part of hockey in Europe.
Formation
The Alps Hockey League started in spring 2016. It was created by the Austrian Ice Hockey Association, the Italian Ice Sports Federation, and the Ice Hockey Federation of Slovenia. These groups wanted the league to be good and affordable for many years. The league is also open to teams from other countries like the Czech Republic, Germany, and Slovakia.
Teams in the league can have up to four players born in other countries. The league uses a points system where each team has 36 points, and up to 16 of these can be used for foreign players. This helps the league focus on growing young talent from the countries involved.
Teams
In the 2025–26 season, the AlpsHL had 13 teams. Seven of these teams were from Italy, four were from Austria, and there was one team each from Croatia and Slovenia.
