Adapted from Wikipedia · Discoverer experience

Bolivia competed at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, United States. This was an important moment for the country because it marked their return to the Olympic Games after many nations, including Bolivia, chose not to attend the 1980 Summer Olympics due to a disagreement.

Eleven athletes from Bolivia took part in the Games. There were ten men and one woman who competed in eleven different events across six sports. Their participation showed Bolivia's commitment to joining the international sports community again and supporting the Olympic spirit.

Prior to the Games

In 1984, Bolivia's president said the country couldn't send athletes to the Summer Olympics in Los Angeles because of money problems. Many sports leaders and some politicians disagreed, thinking the decision came from pressure by a political group linked to the government. Later, after a newspaper article upset many Bolivians, the president briefly said they would boycott the Games. But after the newspaper apologized, the decision was changed, and eleven athletes from Bolivia did compete in the Olympics.
