Canumã River

The Canumã River, also known as Rio Canumã in Portuguese, is a river located in the Amazonas state in northwestern Brazil. It lies to the east of the Madeira River and flows in a direction that is almost parallel to it.

The Canumã River ends by flowing into the Paraná Urariá just before it joins the Madeira River. The short stretch of water between the Canumã River/Paraná Urariá and the Madeira River is called the Paraná do Canumã. Through the Paraná Urariá, the Canumã River is linked to several smaller rivers and finally connects to the Paraná do Ramos. This area has an average flow of 2930 cubic meters every second and is a side channel of the Amazon River.

The Canumã River begins at the point where the Acari and Sucunduri Rivers meet. Sometimes, the Sucunduri River and the Canumã River are thought of as one long river, with the Sucunduri being the upper part and the Canumã being the lower part. When seen this way, the whole river is called the Canumã-Sucunduri.
