Community College of Denver (CCD) is a public community college in Denver, Colorado. The main campus is at Auraria Campus, and it has two other locations in the Denver area. CCD focuses on students who are the first in their families to go to college and on students from minority groups.

CCD is one of 13 colleges in the Colorado Community College System. The college offers over 100 different degrees and certifications. These include training for jobs, help with planning careers, and ways to move on to other colleges in the state. It is special because it is the only two-year college in the nation that shares its campus and facilities with two four-year universities, Metropolitan State University of Denver and the University of Colorado Denver.

History

Community College of Denver started in 1967 to help students in Colorado. Its main campus is called The Auraria Higher Education Center and it opened in 1976. This campus shares space with two other schools: Metropolitan State University of Denver and University of Colorado Denver.

In 1985, the college opened another location called CCD North. This campus offers training in welding and precision machining. There is also a campus in Aurora where students can study nursing and other health-related subjects.

Enrollment

Community College of Denver has more than 9,000 students. In the fall of 2015, about 28% of these students attended full-time, while 72% attended part-time. The college helps many students who are the first in their families to go to college and supports minority students.

Academic programs

Community College of Denver is a place where anyone can start their college education. They offer four types of degrees: Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, Associate of Applied Science, and Associate of General Studies.

Students can choose from over 100 different subjects to study, including health sciences, nursing, and career skills. Each year, the college helps more than 700 students earn their degrees or certificates, and almost 10,000 students attend each semester.

Accreditation

Community College of Denver is approved by a group of schools called The Higher Learning Commission. This group is part of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The college also takes part in a program called the Academic Quality Improvement Program to keep improving its teaching.
