Downtown Disney, officially called the Downtown Disney District, is a special shopping and entertainment area at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California. It opened on January 12, 2001, as part of a big expansion that also included the Disney California Adventure theme park and Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. This lively district offers many shops, restaurants, and fun activities for visitors to enjoy. It's a popular spot for people to relax, eat, shop, and experience the magic of Disney outside the main theme parks.

Location and history

Downtown Disney connects the two Disneyland Resort theme parks with its three resort hotels. It stretches from the western side of the property's Esplanade to the Disneyland Hotel. A Disneyland Monorail System station is nearby, making it easy to get around.

The area has many shops and restaurants, including popular brands and Disney-run stores like a World of Disney shop. Over the years, some shops have changed. In 2019, parking was moved, and a new pedestrian bridge was built. There were also plans for a new hotel, but these were canceled. After the COVID-19 pandemic, Downtown Disney reopened with safety measures. New restaurants and shops continue to open, making it a fun place to visit.
