Euphoniinae
Adapted from Wikipedia ยท Discoverer experience
Euphoniinae is a special group of birds that belongs to the finch family. These birds live only in places called the Neotropics, which include parts of South and Central America. This group has two main types, or genera, of birds: Euphonia and Chlorophonia.
For a long time, these birds were thought to be part of another bird family called tanagers. But in 2012, scientists studied their DNA and found something interesting. They discovered that all the Chlorophonia birds actually belong inside the Euphonia group. This means that the Euphonia group needed to be looked at more carefully to fully understand how these birds are related.
