The Hershey's Milk Chocolate Bar (commonly called the Hershey Bar) is a famous chocolate treat made by The Hershey Company. People often call it "The Great American Chocolate Bar". It is loved by many for its smooth, creamy milk chocolate taste.

History of Hershey chocolate bars

Hershey chocolate bars started with Milton Hershey's first successful candy business, the Lancaster Caramel Company, founded in 1886. After seeing new chocolate machines at the World's Columbian Exposition in 1893, Hershey decided to make chocolate. He first used chocolate to coat caramels, then founded the Hershey Chocolate Company in 1894. By 1899, Hershey had a way to make chocolate for everyone, and in November 1900, he began selling the first Hershey chocolate bar.

Hershey's milk chocolate

The Hershey's Milk Chocolate Bar uses fresh milk from local farms in its special process, developed by Milton Hershey. This process created the first mass-produced chocolate in the United States, and the unique flavor is well-known in the United States and the Philippines.

In 2006, the Hershey company began adding a certain ingredient to their chocolate, but in 2015, they started removing it. However, in 2019, they added it back to some of their chocolate bars. Hershey focuses on using natural flavors in their chocolate.

Other varieties and details

Hershey's offers many different chocolate bars besides the classic milk chocolate and milk chocolate with almonds. You can find Special Dark chocolate, Cookies 'n' Creme, Symphony (milk chocolate and almond toffee), Mr. Goodbar (with peanuts), and Krackel (with crisped rice). There have also been special limited-time flavors like Double Chocolate, Nut Lovers, and Cookies 'N' Mint. Each standard-sized bar has about 210 to 230 calories.

All of Hershey's chocolate bars are approved for people who follow certain dietary rules, thanks to certification by the Kashruth Division of the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America. The biggest Hershey’s bar weighs five pounds and costs about $45. For the company’s 100th anniversary, a special gold bar with pretzels and peanuts was made too.
