Ice hockey

In the 1964 Winter Olympics, Japan played several matches in the ice hockey event. In the first round, teams that won advanced to compete for positions 1 through 8, while those that lost moved on to play for positions 9 through 16.
In the later part of the competition, Japan had several exciting games. They won against Norway and Romania, drew with Austria, and had close matches against Yugoslavia, Poland, Hungary, and Italy.
