Mission Delta 31, often called MD31, is a special unit in the United States Space Force. This unit focuses on a very important job called navigation warfare, which helps keep our space systems safe and working well.

MD31 was officially started, or activated, on October 15, 2024. Since then, it has been an important part of the Space Force, making sure that important signals and systems in space can be used properly and protected from any problems.

This unit plays a big role in keeping our country safe by watching over and supporting the navigation systems that many of us rely on every day.

History

In September 2023, General B. Chance Saltzman introduced a new way to organize missions called the Integrated Mission Delta. This brought together different jobs like operations, getting new technology, information, and online defense into special areas, including positioning, navigation, and timing. Mission Delta 31 was one of the first two units to test this new way of working.

On 13 October 2023, the unit was started at Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado, with Colonel Andrew S. Menschner as its first leader. Later, on 15 October 2024, Mission Delta 31 became official at Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado.
