Adapted from Wikipedia · Discoverer experience
Remich is a small city in southeastern Luxembourg, close to the border with Germany. It has a population of about 4,101 people and is the smallest city in Luxembourg by area. The city is located along the beautiful Moselle River, which adds to its charm and appeal.
Remich is well-known for its lovely setting in the Moselle valley, an area famous for making wine. Many small towns in this valley are dedicated to wine-making, and Remich is one of the most picturesque and popular with visitors. Its scenic location and rich traditions make it a special place to explore.
History
In the 5th century, after Roman soldiers left, a place called "Remacum" slowly became known as "Remich".
Many years later, in the 8th century, a king named Pepin the Short gave some land called "Hof Remich" to a group of people called the Benedictine at St. Maximin's Abbey in Trier. Sadly, in 882, a group called the Normans destroyed the settlement. Some old walls from the town's defenses, like the St. Nicolas gate, can still be seen today. This gate was once the main entrance to the town and is now a special protected building.
The town's walls were torn down in 1687 by soldiers serving Louis XIV.
Remich had royal visits from important leaders, including William II, Grand-Duke of Luxembourg and King of the Netherlands, in 1844, and later by his son, William III, in 1855.
The first bridge over the Moselle River was built in 1866. It was destroyed during World War II, but new bridges were built over time. Today, boats can travel on the Moselle River all year.
Climate
Remich has an oceanic climate. The average temperature each year is about 10.7 °C (51.3 °F). July is the warmest month, with temperatures around 19.6 °C (67.3 °F), while January is the coldest, around 2.4 °C (36.3 °F). The town gets about 711.8 millimetres (28.02 inches) of rain each year. December is usually the wettest month, and April is the driest. The temperature in Remich can vary from as low as −15.2 °C (4.6 °F) in January 1997 to as high as 40.6 °C (105.1 °F) on July 25, 2019.

The other event is the Buergbrennen or bonfire that ends the celebration.
