Tong Jian (Chinese: 佟健; pinyin: Tóng Jiàn;) was born on August 15, 1979, in Harbin, Heilongjiang. He is a retired Chinese pair skater. Tong Jian and his wife, Pang Qing, achieved many amazing results together. They won a silver medal at the 2010 Olympic Games and became World Champions in both 2006 and 2010. Over the years, they also won the title of Four Continents champion five times, in 2002, 2004, 2008, 2009, and 2011. In addition, they were the 2008 Grand Prix Final Champion. Their skill and teamwork made them some of the best pair skaters in the world.

Career

Tong Jian was born in Harbin, China, a city known for ice skating. He began skating when he was six years old. At first, he skated alone, then tried ice dancing for two years before teaming up with Pang Qing in pairs skating.

Tong and Pang did not win many junior competitions, but they kept working hard. They won their first major senior medals in the late 1990s. Over the years, they earned many important titles, including the silver medal at the 2010 Winter Olympics and the World Championship in 2006 and 2010. They also won the Four Continents Championship five times. Tong and Pang competed together for many years before Tong retired.

Personal life

Pang and Tong shared that they were in a romantic relationship during the 2010 Winter Olympics, as they told a magazine called Vanity Fair.

In June 2011, Tong asked Pang to marry him while they were performing in Shanghai, and they married on June 18, 2016.
