UNC Rex Hospital is a general hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina. It is the oldest hospital in the city’s capital and was founded thanks to a gift from John T. Rex, a local tanner and planter. The hospital is named in his honor. Over time, the hospital moved to different places and is now in west Raleigh near Blue Ridge Road and Lake Boone Trail.

UNC Rex Hospital offers many important health services. These include care for cancer, heart and blood vessels, many types of surgeries, help for people recovering after illness or injury, an emergency department, urgent care for sudden health problems, services for women, and special care for healing difficult wounds.

The hospital is part of the UNC Health Care system. This is a non-profit health care group owned by the state of North Carolina and based in Chapel Hill. UNC Rex Hospital is also the official health partner for the Carolina Hurricanes hockey team and the NC State Wolfpack sports teams. It is located close to the Lenovo Center.
