History

The Wells Fargo Pavilion started as a place for performances in Sacramento, California. It was built on the same spot where an old tent theatre used to stand. That old tent, called the Music Circus, began in 1949 and featured light operas and other shows under a big top tent. In 2003, a new, permanent building opened in its place. This new venue kept the look of the old tent but with modern features like better lighting and a special stage that can change levels.

For many years, it was called the Wells Fargo Pavilion. There was a time when it looked like it would be renamed after another sponsor, but that plan changed. In 2022, it became known as the UC Davis Health Pavilion after a new partnership.
