The 2004 Summer Olympics were a big sports event held in Athens, Greece. Over ten thousand athletes from 201 countries came together to compete in many different sports. This was very special because the Olympic Games began in ancient times in Athens.

Athens was chosen to host the Olympics because of its rich history. It was the second time Athens hosted the Summer Olympics, the first being in 1896. Many amazing records were broken, and athletes from many countries won their first-ever Olympic gold medals.

The United States won the most medals, followed by China and Russia. The games helped improve Athens with new buildings, roads, and transportation. Many people remember the 2004 Olympics as wonderful and unforgettable.

The games included many sports like swimming, diving, gymnastics, and football. There were also special mascots named Athena and Phevos, inspired by ancient Greek ideas. After the Olympics, many of the buildings were used for other purposes, like homes, schools, and shopping places.

The 2004 Olympics will always be remembered for bringing people together from all over the world to celebrate sports and friendship.
