Who Were the Ancient Beringian?

The Ancient Beringian were a special group of people who lived a very long time ago. Scientists learned about them by studying the DNA of an infant found at the Upward Sun River site. This site is very old, about 11,500 years!

Where Did They Live?

These early people lived in a place called Beringia. This was a land that connected Asia and the Americas when much of the world was covered in ice, called the Last Glacial Maximum. It was a big adventure for them to move from Asia to the Americas.

Why Do We Know About Them?

Learning about the Ancient Beringian helps us understand how the first people came to live in the Americas. Their story shows us the amazing journey of people moving across the land long ago. Today, many Native American people are linked to these early groups.
