What is the Assemblies of God?

The Assemblies of God is a big group of churches around the world. They are part of a family called Pentecostal churches. These churches believe in the power of the Holy Spirit and follow the teachings of the Bible.

Where Did They Start?

Many of the churches in this group began in the early 1900s. One big meeting happened in Los Angeles, California, called the Azusa Street Revival. Another group started in Brazil in 1911. In the United States, leaders met in Hot Springs, Arkansas in 1914 to form a group called the General Council of the Assemblies of God.

Working Together

In 1989, leaders from many countries created the World Assemblies of God Fellowship. This helped all the different groups work together better. They support missions, help people in need, and share their beliefs with others. Even though each group works on its own, they all share the same basic ideas and history.

Fun Facts

  • The Assemblies of God has millions of members in many countries.
  • They believe in one God, who is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
