The Beautiful Azores
The Azores is a special group of islands in the Atlantic Ocean. It belongs to Portugal and is far away from the mainland, about as far as you can travel west in Portugal. The Azores is made up of nine big and small islands. These islands are called volcanoes because they were made by hot, moving rocks deep inside the Earth.
The islands are split into three groups: the western group with Flores and Corvo, the central group with Graciosa, Terceira, São Jorge, Pico, and Faial, and the eastern group with São Miguel, Santa Maria, and the tiny Formigas islets.
The weather in the Azores is very nice and gentle all year. It is not too hot or too cold. People there grow food, take care of cows and sheep, catch fish in the ocean, and welcome visitors from all over the world. The biggest town is Ponta Delgada, where many people live and work.
The Azores is a wonderful place with green hills, blue oceans, and friendly people. It is a great spot to relax, explore nature, and enjoy the peaceful life on the islands.
