Banggi Island
Banggi Island is a big, beautiful island in Malaysia. It is the largest island that lies completely inside Malaysia. The island is part of the Kudat Division in Kudat District, Sabah. It sits near Marudu Bay on the northern coast of Sabah.
People have lived on Banggi Island for a very long time. Ancient items, like old drums and Chinese ceramics, were found there. This shows that people from different places visited or lived on the island thousands of years ago. Today, about 30,000 people call Banggi Island home.
The island has many plants and animals. It has 10 types of mangrove trees and many mammals. Some animals you can find there include Tupaia gracilis, Exilisciurus exilis, and Hipposideros dyacorum. The island also has important areas for nature conservation, like lowland and mangrove forests.
The best way to get to Banggi Island is by taking a ferry from the town of Kudat. The trip takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. Once on the island, people use hired boats, motorcycles, or sometimes four-wheel drive vehicles to get around.
