Baptist World Alliance

The Baptist World Alliance (BWA) is a big group of Baptists all around the world. It brings together many Baptist churches from different countries. The BWA helps these churches share ideas and support each other.

The BWA started in 1905 in London. Today, its main office is in Falls Church, Virginia, United States. Leaders like Elijah M. Brown, Karl Johnson from the Jamaica Baptist Union, and Lynn Green from the Baptist Union of Great Britain guide the group. They help Baptist churches work together in many ways.

The BWA has groups in over 130 countries. These groups include millions of people who belong to Baptist churches. The BWA holds big meetings every five years in different places. These meetings let Baptist churches share their experiences and support each other, but the BWA does not control the churches.

The BWA also talks with other big church groups, like the Roman Catholic Church and the World Methodist Council. These talks help different churches understand each other better. The leaders of these talks include a professor from the University of Oxford.
