Welcome to Berkshire
Berkshire is a lovely place in South East England. It is also called the Royal County of Berkshire. The biggest town is Reading, which is the county town. Berkshire touches many other places, such as Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, and Surrey.
Nature and Towns
Berkshire has both busy towns and quiet countryside. In the east, near London, you will find towns like Slough, Bracknell, and Maidenhead. The west of Berkshire is more peaceful, with Newbury as its largest town. The River Thames flows through all of Berkshire, making it a beautiful place to live and visit.
Famous Spots
Berkshire is home to some very special places. One of the most famous is Windsor Castle, which is close to Ascot Racecourse. People love to visit Ascot for horse racing, especially the big races held there. Another interesting place is Eton College, a school with a long history. Families and visitors also enjoy Legoland Windsor, a fun park full of rides and Lego creations.
Fun and Learning
Berkshire has many places to learn and have fun. The University of Reading is a big place for students. There are also special schools like Eton College and Wellington College. For a day out, you can visit Reading Abbey, where kings and important people used to be buried, or The Living Rainforest, a place to see amazing animals and plants.
