Binomial (polynomial)

A binomial is a special kind of math expression. It has just two parts added together or taken away. These parts are called monomials. A monomial can be a number or a letter raised to a power, like 5 or x².

Binomials are used in a part of math called algebraic geometry. They help describe special shapes and patterns. These shapes are called toric varieties. The binomials help make rules for these shapes.
