Broward County is a special place in the state of Florida, in the United States. It is part of a big area called the Fort Lauderdale metropolitan area. This county is very busy and full of people, being the second most crowded after Miami-Dade County.
The biggest city here is [Fort Lauderdale](/wiki/Fort Lauderdale). Broward County is known for being very different, with people from many places around the world living together. It also has a strong economy, meaning lots of jobs and businesses.
Long ago, around 12,000 years back, the Tequesta people lived in this area. They enjoyed fishing and gathering food. Broward County was created on April 30, 1915, and was named after Napoleon Bonaparte Broward, a past governor of Florida. Before that, small towns like Dania and Pompano were already there, and then Fort Lauderdale joined in 1911. After its creation, the county grew very fast, especially after World War II.
Broward County is close to the Atlantic Ocean and the Everglades, which makes it a beautiful place to live and visit. It covers about 1,323 square miles, with lots of land and some water.
People love visiting Broward County for its lovely beaches, fun parks, and interesting museums. You can explore places like the Bonnet House Museum & Gardens in Fort Lauderdale or enjoy nature at Butterfly World in Coconut Creek. There are also many places to shop, eat, and watch shows.
