Brush Mouse
The brush mouse is a small, friendly animal that likes to climb in trees and bushes. It belongs to a group called rodents, which also includes mice and rats. These little mice live in the mountains of Mexico and the western parts of the United States. They are most often found in places that are very high up, where the air is cool.
Brush mice have soft, yellowish-brown fur on their backs and gray fur underneath. They have long tails that end in a tiny tuft of hair, which makes them look special. These mice are good at living in tough places, especially where it is very high and windy.
People know about brush mice because they are good at surviving in hard places. They like to live near rocks, bushes, and trees that are not too tall. They are usually active at night, looking for food like seeds, fruits, and leaves. Sometimes they even eat a few small insects.
Even though brush mice are small, they are clever and can find safe places to live, like under tree roots or inside old mines. They build tiny nests using dried grasses and leaves. These little mice show us how animals can live in places that seem very difficult.
