Welcome to Buryatia

Buryatia is a special area called a republic in Russia. It is part of a place called the Russian Far East. Buryatia is very big and has many interesting things to see.

Where is Buryatia?

Buryatia is found in Siberia, a huge part of Russia. It is next to Lake Baikal, the deepest lake in the whole world! To the north, you can find Irkutsk Oblast. To the east is Zabaykalsky Krai. Tuva is to the west, and the country of Mongolia is to the south. The biggest city here is called Ulan-Ude.

People and Nature

Buryatia is home to many people. About 978,000 people live here. One group of people who live here is called the Buryats. They have their own special traditions.

The land in Buryatia is mostly mountains. It has rivers and forests. The weather can change a lot. In winter, it can get very cold, around −17 °C. In summer, it can be warm, about +25 °C. The area gets about 244 millimeters of rain each year.

Fun Places to Visit

One of the most famous places in Buryatia is Lake Baikal. It is very deep and beautiful. Many people visit here in the summer to enjoy the nature. You can also see lovely valleys, like the one near the Uda River.

Buryatia has many interesting things to explore, from its big lakes to its tall mountains. It is a place where nature and culture come together in a wonderful way.
