What is the Calymmian?

The Calymmian is an old time in Earth's history. It is part of a big stretch called the Mesoproterozoic Era. This time happened very, very long ago, from 1,600 to 1,400 million years ago!

What Happened During the Calymmian?

During the Calymmian, land areas on Earth grew bigger. New lands formed on places that had just become steady.

A huge group of land called Columbia, a supercontinent, started to split apart around 1,500 million years ago. Special ancient life forms, named the Volyn biota, also lived during this time.
