Celle is a lovely town in Lower Saxony, Germany. It sits near the river Aller, which flows into the Weser River. About 71,000 people call Celle their home.
Celle is famous for its beautiful Schloss Celle, a grand castle with Renaissance and Baroque styles. The old town center, called Altstadt, has over 400 timber-framed houses. This makes Celle a special part of the German Timber-Frame Road.
The town has a rich history. From 1378 to 1705, it was home to dukes from the House of Welf. They lived in the beautiful castle after moving from their old home.
Celle is also close to the Lüneburg Heath, a lovely area for nature walks. The town is about 40 kilometres from Hanover and 60 kilometres from Brunswick. It is a nice place to visit and explore.
Celle has many fun things to see and do. The Bomann Museum shows art and local history. The Schlosstheater Celle is one of the oldest working theatres in Germany. There are also beautiful parks like the French Garden and Castle Park.
Every year, Celle holds a Christmas market in its old town centre. It is a magical time to visit and enjoy the festive lights and treats. The town also has sports teams, like the Celler Oilers ice hockey team, and many events for everyone to enjoy.
