The City of London

The City of London is a very special and tiny part of England. It is only about one square mile big, but it is super important. It is the oldest part of London and has many big jobs, especially in money and business.

Where It Is and Why It’s Important

The City of London is right in the middle of London. Even though only about 8,500 people live there, more than 500,000 people work there every day! It has very important buildings like the Bank of England and the London Stock Exchange. Many people work in jobs like insurance and law here.

Famous Sights

The City has many old and famous places to see. You can visit St Paul's Cathedral, a huge and beautiful church. There is also the Royal Exchange, where people used to buy and sell things, and Smithfield Market, where people sell food. Parts of the old London Wall built by Romans are still standing today.

Getting Around

The City of London has many ways to get around. You can take the London Underground, which is the train that goes under the city. There are many stops like Bank and Monument, Barbican, and St. Paul's. There are also buses and even boats on the River Thames.

Learning and Schools

There are some schools in the City of London, like The Aldgate School for younger children. Many people also go to schools in nearby areas. There are special places to learn music and drama too, like the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

The City of London is a place full of history and important jobs, and it is always busy with people working and visiting.
