The Cliffs of Moher
The Cliffs of Moher are very tall cliffs along the coast of Ireland. They are one of the most famous places to visit in County Clare. These cliffs are very high and stretch for many miles beside the Atlantic Ocean.
At their highest point, the cliffs reach up to 214 metres, which is about 702 feet tall! Near the top, there is a round stone tower called O'Brien's Tower. It was built a long time ago in 1835. From the tower or the cliffs, you can see beautiful views of the Aran Islands and other faraway places.
Many people visit the Cliffs of Moher every year to see how tall and beautiful they are. There is a special visitor centre where people can learn more about the cliffs. The centre has information, cafés, and shops. Visitors can walk along safe paths to enjoy the views. Some people also see the cliffs from boats or small planes.
The cliffs are made from old layers of rock formed long ago. The ocean helps shape the cliffs, creating interesting shapes like sea caves and tall rock columns. Birds also make their homes on the cliffs. You might see puffins or other sea birds when you visit.
